Perth & Kinross Team perform well at Jamboree

Our team of girls performed well over the weekend and just missed out on second place when Aberdeenshire won the Saturday match by the narrowest of margins 5-4. Northern Counties won on Sunday against P&K 7-2 and yesterday our team played great golf and won all morning foursome matches then went onto win 3 afternoon matches to win overall against Angus 6-3.

Our star of the Tournament was Roseanne Niven who played magnificent golf. Playing with Jane Yellowlees in the doubles on Saturday morning against S Wood and S Wilson they won by 1 hole then in the afternoon she won again against S Wilson 4&3. On Sunday again teamed with Jane for the foursomes the pairing went on to win 2&1 against Lesley Mackay and Audrey Scott. In the afternoon she put up a great show against Scottish internationalist Lesley Mackay and lost 2&1. Lesley is turning pro today. On Monday Roseanne rested in the morning and came out all guns blazing against another Scottish internationlist Dawn Dewar and won 2&1. A fantastic weekend for Roseanne winning 4 out or 5 of her matches and supporting all the other players throughout the weekend.

Unfortunately Carly Booth suffered a back injury and only played on Saturday morning in the foursomes and had to concede the Sunday morning foursome match and retire from the competition. We all hope her injury is not to serious and wish her a speedy recovery.

All other players contributed to the weekend and the points scored are as follows:

Fourseomes

Roseanne Niven & Jane Yellowlees 2 wins
Fiona Ramsay & Jane Yellowlees 1 win
Jill Milne & Emily Ogilvy 1 win
Dawn Butchart & Avril Ker 1 win

Singles

Roseanne Niven 2 wins
Jillian Milne 2 wins
Fiona Ramsay 1 win
Dawn Butchart 1 win

A detailed update of all the weekend scores are on Gillian Kirkwood website.

Well done to all players.

Weather Conditions Cancel British 2nd Round

Dreadful weather conditions have forced the 2nd round of the British Amateur Championship to be cancelled. At 2pm today 14 players on a score of 77 will play a sudden death play off for 7 places. The final matchplay stages will take place on Sunday. With a 80 Emily Ogilvy (Muckhart) missed out on a chance to better her score. However Emily will take part in the Jamboree at Monfieth this weekend.
Our County Team head off for Jamboree

The regional Inter County Team Championship is to be held at Monifieth this weekend. Our team of Carly Booth, Dawn Butchart, Avril Ker, Jillian Milne, Rosanne Niven, Emily Ogilvy Fiona Ramsay, Jane Yellowlees and reserve Sally Kettlewell head off for their practice round tomorrow. The competition begins on Saturday at 9.30am with foursomes in the morning and singles in the afternoon. P&K play Aberdeenshire on Saturday, Northern Counties on Sunday and Angus on Monday. If you can come along and support the girls at any time over the weekend of play this would be appreciated.
If you can offer your services as a caddy please let us know.

We all wish the girls every success over the weekend of play.

Weather conditions halt play

Due to severe weather conditions round 2 of the British Open Amateur Championship has been cancelled however play will resume on Thursday with the same Tee Times which were published. Emily is set to play her second round at 12.07 after producing a very good first round score of 80. Emily had the disadvantage of a late tee time yesterday therefore unlike the sunshine the morning players enjoyed, she had to contend with the strengthening winds and grey sky's. This makes her score against the par of 73, CSS 74, very encouraging.

Two canadians lead the field Christine Boucher with a 69 and Lindsay Knowlton 70. Laura Jane Eastwood from Yelverton also had a 70.

Juniors do us proud

Roseanne and Carly our two young 'stars' did us proud at the St Rule at the weekend. After battling through the wind and the cold they both produced good scores. Carly had a 162 82-80 and Roseanne a 166 85-81.

Well done to both.

County Champion Roseanne Posted by Hello
Roseanne joins the field of St. Rule

Great news for P&K, Roseanne Niven our County Champion 2004 has just heard today of her late entry into the prestigious field at St. Rule. What an exciting weekend this could be for us! WATCH THIS SPACE!!!! Good Luck from us all Roseanne.

Carly Booth joins the St Rule this weekend Posted by Hello
Carly to play in the St Rule

Our youngest ever P&K Team Member Carly Booth is set to join the most prestigious event to date this weekend. Carly was first reserve for the St Rule and when Kaja Kerger one of the four German entrants notified her withdrawal this left a space for Carly.
Although Carly's handicap of less than 3 is below the cut-off of 3.7 at the time of her entry she was playing off 4 and therefore did not make the original field. But with big names such as Scottish Champion Anne Laing, Irish Champion Deidre Smith and two members of the victorious American Curtis Cup Team Carly will be in her highest quality event to date. With her 12 birthday on Monday here's hoping she gets a gets a birthday treat over the weekend.
We all wish her the very best and will be watching the results with great interest.
Go for it Carly!
