EILIDH AND HANNAH KNOCKED OUT IN FIRST ROUND

After achieving a place in the Championship Matchplay stage Eilidh Watson (Muckhart) was unfortunately knocked out by Alyson McKechin (seeded 9th) in a very close match by 2 holes. Eilidh did very well to make it to the top 32 and has played some magnificent golf this season. She has reduced her handicap from 10 to 5 in the space of 3 months.

Hannah Robb (Strathmore) qualified in the 2nd flight Ansley Reid championship and she too was knocked out in the first round by Katie McCracken who was the 3rd seed in this division.

Both girls are taking part in the Junior Open Strokeplay Championships at Dunfermline which begins next Wednesday. They along with Emily Aird (Blairgowrie), Eve Muirhead (Pitlochry), Annabel Niven (Crieff), Nicola Robertson (Dunbalne) and Jacqueline Sneddon (Alyth) will be flying the flag for P&K. We wish them all well.

SCOTTISH GIRLS (CLOSE) AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

The Scottish Girls' (Close) Amateur Championship is underway at Eyemouth Golf Club with yesterday (Tuesday 13 July) the first qualifying round. The top 32 girls' qualifying for the main Championship following the second qualifying round which will be played today (Wednesday 14 July). The next 16 players will qualify for the second flight to play for the Ansley Reid Salver.

Rachael Watton, Mortonhall leads the Scottish Girls' qualifying at Eyemouth Golf Club after the first round. Her level par 73 is three shots ahead of Gillian Scanlon, Hamilton and four clear of Lesley Atkins, Gullane.

Two girls are competing from P&K they are Eilidh Watson (Muckhart) and Hannah Robb (Strathmore). Hannah kindly contacted me with an update of the scores and conditions at Eyemouth. She said the putting was particularly difficult with fast greens and tricky pin positions making the scoring hard. Hannah returned a scratch score of 88 which at present places her just outside the qualifying in joint 34th position, Eilidh returned a 83 placing her tied 18th.

So all to play for. Good luck girls and I will try to keep you all informed of the scores today.

North of Scotland Update

Unfortunately we only had one representative in the Championship and two in the H/cap section of the North of Scotland they were Emily Ogilvy who qualified in 5th position with a 77 in the scratch section and our County Captain Lenore Kyle and Sandy Bushby who qualified in the Handicap section.

Emily was drawn against Rebecca Wilson and unfortunately lost the match 4&3, Lenore also lost her first round match against Gail Wilson 2&1 however Sandy won her first match against youngster Kristen MacCallum 1 hole but unfortunately lost to Ann Hay in the afternoon match 3&2.

The final of the event takes place today but as of yet, I do not have the results.

NORTH OF SCOTLAND CHAMPIONSHIP

The North of Scotland qualifying round takes place tomorrow at Fofar Golf Club. Ten representatives from P&K are taking part including last years runner up Emily Ogilvy. Emily was narrowly beaten last year by Katy McNicol who is now in the professional ranks.

The ten taking part from P&K are:
Team member Emily Ogivly
County Champion Laura Walker
Team member Jane Yellowlees
Team member Jacqueline Sneddon
Jennifer Sneddon
Past Captain Dawn Butchart
Past Captain Janet Griffiths
Sandy Bushby
Junior, Hannah Robb
County Captain Lenore Kyle

We wish these ladies all the very best tomorrow and here's hoping the weather improves!!

County Team member Gwen Lambie had a hole in one at the 5th hole on Lansdowne on Friday night, well done Gwen, when do we get the drink?
Gwen is the Club Champion at Blairgowrie, she played Heather Anderson in the final and won 2up.
On Sunday she is also playing in the final of the Championship at Dunkeld and Birnam against her Mum, our Junior Convener Carol Lambie. May the best Lambie win!
COUNTY JAMBOREE
Althought the result was not in our favour the Northern Division Inter County Matches were very enjoyable. All our girls played their hearts out, the games were very close and it was unfortunate that some matches didn't go our way.
Very many thanks to all the team for their complete dedication.
Also thanks to everyone involved in the organisation and all who came along to caddy and support the team.
I want to say a special thank you to Blairgowrie Golf Club for hosting this event and making all the teams feel so welcome.
We wish Angus County all the very best for the finals at Bothwell Castle on
17th - 19th September.
