GIRLS & WOMEN'S HOME INTERNATIONALS - RESULTS

England won both the Girls & Women's Home Internationals at a rain soaked Downfield Golf Club today.

After a dreadful forecast, the singles were sent out first on two tee start early this morning. When atrocious weather forced the singles to be suspended for over 5 hours, any hope of playing the foursomes was abandoned. It meant the final day's matches were decided on the singles' results.

With wins over Scotland and Wales, it was left to England and Ireland to battle it out for both titles. The matches were close, but in the end it was a double heartbreak for Ireland. The English Women won 3.5-2.5 while the English Girls won on count-back after a 3-3 draw.

Scotland had mixed fortunes in the 3rd and 4th play-offs against Wales. The Scottish Girls lost heavily 1-5, but the Scottish Women staged a fantastic fight-back after the rain delay and won their match 4.5-1.5.

Girls' Results
Day 1: Scotland 3, Ireland 6 - England 6, Wales 3
Day 2: Wales 2.5 Ireland 6.5 - England 8.5, Scotland 0.5
Day 3: Ireland 3, England 3 - Scotland 1, Wales 5

Women's Results
Day 1: Scotland 4, Ireland 5 - England 8, Wales 1
Day 2: Wales 2.5, Ireland 6.5 - England 6, Scotland 3
Day 3: Ireland 2.5, England 3.5 - Scotland 4.5, Wales 1.5

The Boy's Home Internationals
England also triumphed in the Boy's Home Internationals, which were held in Wales this week. In a nail-biting title decider England eventually overcame Ireland by 8-7. Scotland finished third after a convincing 9-6 win over Wales.

Boy's Results
Day 1: Scotland 5, Ireland 10 - England 11.5, Wales 3.5
Day 2: Wales 6, Ireland 9 - England 9.5, Scotland 5.5
Day 3: Ireland 8, England 7 - Scotland 9, Wales 6
