BARRIE DOUGLAS SCOTTISH JUNIOR MASTERS - DAY 1

It was a solid start for Squad members Megan Ashley (Strathmore) and Katy Alexander (Blairgowrie) in the Barrie Douglas Scottish Masters at Strathmore today. Both finished within the top ten with Megan just one shot ahead of Katy.

In the Under-18 girls' category, Carmen Griffiths (Aboyne) returned an excellent one-under-par 72 to top the field. Evanna Hynd (Lundin) sits in second place two strokes behind Carmen on 74.

In the Under-18 boys' category, Jamie Roberts (Muckhart) posted a fantastic three-under-par 69 to lead the field by two shots. Whilst the front runners in the Under-16 boys' category are Ross Laird (Falkirk) and Ruben Lindsay (Ayr Belleisle), who both shot level par. 

With another two rounds to go this weekend, there's plenty to play for!

BARRIE DOUGLAS SCOTTISH JUNIOR MASTERS

Good luck to Squad members Katy Alexander, Megan Ashley, Kirsten Miller and Amy Mitchell who are playing in the Barrie Douglas Scottish Junior Masters this week.

The championship will take place from Friday 31 May to Sunday 2 June 2019 at Strathmore Golf Centre. This year the 54-hole tournament is open to girls as well as boys

Over 100 up-and-coming young golfers have gathered at Strathmore to play the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event, which is also a qualifier for this year's end of season "Race to The Machrie".

NORTH OF SCOTLAND CHAMPIONSHIP

This year’s North of Scotland Ladies' Championship will take place at Elgin Golf Club from Monday 15 July to Wednesday 17 July. 

All members of P&K Ladies' County Golf Association are eligible to enter. 

One qualifying round followed by scratch and handicap matchplay for the top 16 players in each section, with a consolation round for non-qualifiers. The qualifying round on Monday will count towards the girls' championship. 

Entries close on Monday 17 June.  A copy of the entry form is below.

Twenty-one pairs took part in our Commonwealth Spoons (foursomes) at Milnathort Golf Club today. There were some cracking scores.

KIRSTY BRODIE WINS THE COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

Kirsty Brodie triumphed at the Perth & Kinross Ladies' County Championship final at Alyth today.  She beat fellow squad member Katy Alexander 4&3 to take the title.

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP - DAY 1 RESULTS

Teenagers triumph on day one of the County Championship.
This afternoon three of our junior members Megan Ashley, Katy Alexander and Amy Mitchell won through to the semi-finals.  The fourth semi finalist, Kirsty Brodie has just moved up to the seniors this year.  Megan Ashley overcame the no 1 seed and defending champion, Jen Saxton on the 18th. Kirsty Brodie won a tight match against fellow squad member Isla Moncrieff also on the 18th. Amy Mitchell won on the 17th despite a spirited fight-back by former Champion Laura Walker.  Katy Alexander eased through comfortably in the final match.

The semi-finals and finals will be held at Alyth tomorrow (see times below). All spectators are welcome.

SQUAD PRACTICE AT BALLATER

So, what did you plan to do this Bank Holiday weekend?  Some of our Senior Squad decided to travel up to Ballater, book into the local Hostel and check out the golf course before the Jamboree in June.

They even persuaded our Match Secretary, Caroline Henderson, to join them!

According to Laura's post on Facebook yesterday, they had a "Great first day up at Ballater... Battled the cold and the sleet, but loved the course."

Well done everyone.  It's great to see you all getting in some practice on the course in preparation for the Jamboree.  Hopefully, it's warmer in June!

P&K GIRLS' McPHERSON MEDALS - CHANGE OF DATE

The date for our last Junior Girls' event has changed.  It will now be held on Sunday 8 September at Strathmore Golf Club, 1.30 pm start.

This is to allow it to be a qualifying event for the 2019 Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship.  It will give our talented girls the opportunity to score low and qualify for the finals at Quinta de Lago.

There will still be a 9 hole competition for the girls with higher (36+) or no handicaps.
