North of Scotland Results_

Our girls put up a good show at the North of Scotland but unfortunately none made it through to the Semi's. Dawn Butchart was knocked out in the first round by an on form Frances Neish who was 2 under par after 15 holes! Jillian Milne won against Jill Harrison of Cruden Bay in the first round however playing against Ann Ramsay (Kirriemuir) in the quarters went to the 23rd hole!! Unfortunately Jillian lost out to Ann however the golf played by both girls was a treat to watch. Sadly two of our players were up against each other on the first round, junior girl Sally Kettlewell (Dunblane)played our Vice Captain Janet Griffiths (Comrie) Sally won 6 and 5. The golf was of a high standard by both players. Jane Yellowlees (Murrayshall) played some great golf to win against Ann Hay (Letham Grange). She then played young Katie McNicoll (Carnoustie) the match was tense and went to the 21st hole Jane losing out on a close fought match.
The results were as follows:
First round _ L Walker (Nairn Dunbar) beat K Stalker (Fraserburgh) 6 and 5, F Neish (Murcar) beat D Butchart (Strathmore) 5 and 3, A Ramsay (Kirriemuir) beat D Pocock (Murcar) 4 and 3, J Milne (Craigie Hill) beat J Harrison (Cruden Bay) 3 and 2, A Bushby (Strathmore) beat L Fotheringham (Abertay) at 19th, S Kettlewell (Dunblane) beat J Griffiths (Comrie) 6 and 5, K McNicoll (Carnoustie) beat L Terry (Cruden Bay) 5 and 3, J Yellowlees (Murrayshall) beat A Hay (Letham Grange).
Quarter-finals _ Neish beat Walker 4 and 3, Ramsay beat Milne at 23rd, Bushby beat Kettlewell at 19th, McNicoll beat Yellowlees at 21st.
The semi finals saw Ann Ramsay beat Frances Neish and Alexandra Bushby (Strathmore) beat K. McNcoll at the 19th hole.
In the final Alexandra was level par at the turn and 4 up she then birdied the 10th to go to 5 however after some problems at the 11th conceded the hole to Ann. She then went on to win the 12th with a par a half on bogies at the 13th made it dormie going down 14 and with a birdie 4 won the match.

Our ladies in the handicap section also put up a good show and Jan Kennedy (Blairgowrie) won through to the semi final stages of the competition. Well done to Jan. Unfortunately Jan lost to Susan Belton who went on to win the overall event.
Again two of players played against each other in the first round. Norma Fleming (Alyth) played our junior girl Jacqueline Sneddon (Alyth) and won through to the quarters 2&1 where once again she met up with a P&K lady Jan Kennedy, Jan won the match 4&3. Jennie French (Strathmore) won the morning match against C Docherty (Cruden Bay) but then came against the eventual winner Susan Belton and was beaten 2&1. Two more P&K players met in the first round Margaret MacNaughton (Blairgowrie) and Jane Taylor(Strthmore). Jane who is our current County Handicap champion lost to Margaret 2&1 Margaret met young Sammy Vass a up and coming young star from Tain by 1 hole. Jill Stewart (Alyth) lost to M. Duthie (Panmure Barry) 3&2 and Cath Irving lost to Julie Taylor (Kirriemuir) by 1 hole. The matches were all played in the true spirit of the game and the players were all a credit to the county. Well done all.
HANDICAP _ First round _ N Fleming (Alyth) (9) beat J Sneddon (Alyth) (14) 2 and 1, J Kennedy (Blairgowrie) (15) beat V Harper (Deeside) 911) at 19th, S Belton (Kirriemuir) (11) beat R Roy (Ballater) (10) 3 and 1, J French (Strathmore) (11) beat C Docherty (Cruden Bay) (20) at 19th, M MacNaughton (Blairgowrie) 915) beat Jane Taylor (Strathmore) (16) 2 and 1, S Vass (Tain) (26) beat H Kelly (Panmure Barry) (12) 3 and 1, M Duthie (Panmure Barry) (14) beat J Stewart (Alyth) (12) 3 and 2, Julie Taylor (Kirriemuir) (8) beat C Irving (Blairgowrie) (11) 1 hole.
Quarter-finals _ Kennedy beat Fleming 4 and 3, Belton beat French 2 and 1, Vass beat MacNaughton 4 and 2, Duthie beat Julie Taylor 1 hole.

HANDICAP - Semi-finals - S Belton (Kirriemuir) (11) beat J Kennedy (Blairgowrie) (15) 1 hole, M Duthie (Panmure Barry) (14) beat S Vass (Tain) (26) 1 hole. Final - Belton beat Duthie at 19th.
