The Scotland team fared very well against Ireland in the first round of matches in the Girls' Home International Tournament being staged at Southerndown Golf Club, today. The foursomes were shared 1 1/2 to 1 1/2 and the singles went to Scotland 6 - 0. Scotland are defending the title they won in Ireland last year. Today's results were as follows:
SCOTLAND 7 1/2, IRELAND 1 1/2
Foursomes - K Caithness, S Watson bt S Cunningham, A Murphy 4 and 3;
C Booth, M Briggs halved with V Bradshaw, S Meadow;
K MacDonald, R Niven lost to Lisa Maguire, Leona Maguire 1 hole
(1 1/2-1 1/2).
Singles - C Booth bt K Gallagher 4 and 3,
S Watson bt V Bradshaw 6 and 5,
R Niven bt Lisa Maguire 2 and 1,
P Pretswell bt L Mernagh 1 hole,
M Briggs bt Leona Maguire 1 hole,
K Caithness bt S Meadow 5 and 4
(6-0).
