A huge thank you to all County Members who either donated prizes or bought raffle tickets (or did both) on Monday at Glenisla. A grand sum of £231 was raised which goes a long way to help our funding of this years Northern Inter-County Team Championships at Elgin.

ROSEANNE BREAKS CRIEFF COURSE RECORD

County Champion Roseanne Niven shot a magnificant Scratch 70 to beat the course record at Crieff Golf Course. Not only did she break the record but also brought her handicap down to 2. A fantastic achievment. Well done Roseanne.

AVRIL KER is Perth and Kinross top seed at Glenisla


A fabulous round by County Squad member Avril Ker saw her qualify in top spot at a blustery Glenisla yesterday. Avril matched the CSS with a great score of 73 - one ahead of Carly Booth, who is the No 2 seed, and three better than third qualifier and defending champion Roseanne Niven.

An impressive net 69 gave Susan Ogg of Dunkeld & Birnam top qualifying place in the Gibb Trophy. Avril's daughter Alison Ker qualified second and a further family connection saw Roseanne's younger sister, Annabel Niven qualify in 4th place.

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DRAW

The County Championship qualifier takes place on Monday 9th at Glenisla Golf Centre. As I have said previously there will be a raffle in aid of funding the Jambouree. Prizes include rounds of 4 on various golf courses in Perthshire. If you could possibly donate a prize, no matter how small, it would be gratefully received. Also the raffles tickets will be on sale all day so please take part!!

Carly Booth winner of Faldo Series at Carnoustie Championship Course 

Carly wins by one shot

County Team Member, Carly Booth, won the girls’ top placing yesterday with a five-over-par 79, one ahead of Michele Thomson (McDonald Ellon), in the first Scottish qualifying competition of the 2005 Nick Faldo Junior Series played over the Carnoustie Championship links in what was a very wet and windy day which raised the women’s coures CSS from 75 to 77.
Carly had halves of 40 and 39 and her only birdie, at the 16th, proved to be decisive.

Following her excellent play at Helen Holms Carly is now in 6th place in the new Paull & Williamsons Order of Merit.

Also congratulations go to County Junior Member Jacqueline Sneddon (Alyth) who shot a 93. Jacqueline who is currently taking advantage of P&K sponsorship at Gleneagles and is a member of the Elite training squad is showing great promise for the future. Well done Jacqueline, keep it up!

Warm congratulations to Carly Booth who scored a fantastic 225 at the Helen Holm over Royal Troon at the weekend. She ended only 6 over par for the three rounds which considereing 5 shots were lost on the first day makes the scoring even more impressive. Carly who at 12 years of age was the youngest competitor in the field, returned a score of 80 which really was a game of two halves. Playing for the first time in the event, she struggled to the turn in 46, but came home in fine style with a three-under-par inward card of 34. Her next two cards of 75 and 76 completed her score.

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP 2005

2005 County Championship will be held on Monday 9th May at Glenisla Golf Course. If you haven't already entered please phone Pam ASAP as the draw will be finalised on Thursday 28th.

Once again we will be holding our annual Raffle at Glenisla to off set the rising costs of coaching and the Jambouree. Please please bring along a prize on the day or alternatively give it to a committee member.

EMILY FINISHES A CLOSE THIRD

County Team Member Emily Ogilvie had her best result yet on the American College circuit when she finished in a very close third place in the Sun Belt Conference women's college golf tournament at PGA Village, Port St Lucie Florida.
Emily scored impressively over the three day tournament with a 73, 76 and 75 over the 6,005yd, par-72 course for a total of 224. Emily was only one shot behind her Sheridan Graham and Denver's Emily Hoeper.
Emily Hoeper won the play-off for the individual title at the fifth extra hole.

A fantastic week for Emily, we all send our warmest congratulations and look forward to the next event.

County Team Member Emily Ogilvie is now in third place with one round to go in the Sun Belt Conference women's college golf tournament at Port St Lucie, Florida.
Emily (Muckart) is a student at the University of Arkansas Little Rock. She has had rounds of 73 and 76 for 149 which makes her three behind leader Rebecca Samuelsson (Florida International) and only one behind second-placed Sheridan Graham, a fellow university team mate.

Emily Ogilvy Tied 2nd

County Team player Emily Ogilvie (Muckhart), a student at the University of Arkansas Little Rock, has tied for second spot after day one in the Sun Belt Conference Golf Championships at PGA Village, Florida. Emily shot a one over par 73 which puts her one stroke behind her team-mate Sheridan Graham. There are 50 players in the field, and another two rounds to go. Best of luck Emily!

REDUCTION ONLY AT DUNBLANE

Unfortunately the weather was not kind for our first County Meeting at Dunblane. Instead we had heavy rain and wind so well done all of you who took part and showed you support. The consolation for us all is IT WAS REDUCTION ONLY!!!

Congratulations go to Kathy McKay (Crieff) and Rena Duncan (Kinross) who were the only players in the field to play under the CSS of 74. Kathy who has a handicap of 25 notched a fantastic net 71 and Rena whose handicap is 17 scored net 72. Sal Shepherd (Blairgowrie)and Sally Kettlewell (Dunblane) both members of the P&K senior squad shot a gross 81 with Sal pipping Sally with a better inward half. Well done to you all.

practice Matches at Gleneagles and Crieff

Our County Squad played two practice Matches on what was a very blustery weekend. The first match was against Stirling University over the Queens Course, Gleneagles on Saturday. Unfortunately Stirling could not provide a full team and only 4 players were available. However the players who did take part were extremely strong and although our players played some exciting golf we lost 2-0. The pairings for the day was as follows:

Sunday was a more successful day when the squad played a practice match against the Crieff men's Scratch League Team. Unfortunately Roseanne Niven was ill and could not make the day. Pat Colquhoun, kindly came along to complete the 10 strong squad. Jane Yellowlees is also unable to play at present due to a back injury. The wind was even stronger than before however the girls played some super golf and the score line was 3 1/2 - 1 1/2. The pairings for the day were as follows:
