Scottish Women's Medal Grand Final

Well done to County Member Margaret Cairns (Dunning) competing in Scottish Golf's Women's Medal Grand Final at bright and breezy Panmure today.  


Margaret qualified to play at Panmure by finishing 3= in the Qualifying Round at wet & windy Dalmahoy back in July and thoroughly enjoyed it.

P&K LADIES HANDICAP LEAGUE

The round-robin matches have now been completed and the results of all the matches can be found via the link on our website.  


In League A, after a close contest and on countback, Crieff came out on top.  In League B, Auchterarder were the winners.

The neutral venue and date for the final between Crieff & Auchterarder has yet to be decided.

DUNBLANE MEETING - RESULTS

After a cloudy start, the sun shone for our August County Meeting which was held at 100 year old Dunblane Golf Club today.



Well done to Helen Ewen (Muckhart) and Hilary Cunningham (Dunkeld) who both returned the day's best nett score and Isla Moncrieff (Aberfeldy) who recorded the best gross score of the day.

U16/U14 GIRLS' OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP - CARDROSS

Well done to P&K County Junior Lucy Moran (Milnathort) who enjoyed competing in the Scottish Golf's U14 Girls' Open Championships at Cardross at the weekend.  


Playing amongst an international field, Lucy's first round wasn't as low as she'd hoped but she improved on day 2 and played to her handicap, resulting in her handicap index coming down to 9.5 and helping her to move 10 places up the overall leaderboard.

Good effort Lucy !

HOME INTERNATIONALS - FINAL DAY

After an early 7.30am start, the Scotland team rallied to win 4 - 3 against Wales in the morning foursomes.


The afternoon singles were a tight affair with the result being a 7 - 7 draw.   This gave Scotland victory over Wales by an overall score of 11 - 10 to secure 3rd place in the Home Internationals.

The other match between England and Ireland would be the title decider. After England led 5-2 from the morning foursomes, they went on to consolidate their lead by winning the afternoon singles 7.5 - 6.5.  The overall result was a victory for England 12.5 - 8.5.

Congratulations to England who have won the Men & Women's Home Internationals 2023 at Machynys.

England made a clean sweep by winning both the women's and men's competitions.

COMRIE GREENSOMES - MON 11TH SEPTEMBER

Our final County meeting this year is a Greensomes at Comrie on Monday 11 September.

HOME INTERNATIONALS - DAY 2

A better start for Scotland on Day 2, halving 1 and winning 4 of the 7 morning foursomes to lead Ireland 4.5 points to 2.5 points going into the afternoon singles.  


After being 2 points behind this morning, the Ireland team came roaring back to win 10 of the afternoon singles matches which gave them an overall 12.5 points to 8.5 points victory over Scotland.

In today's other match, England defeated Wales by 11.5 points to 9.5 points.

Scotland face Wales on the final day of competition with tee times starting at 9am.

We'll be rooting for you Scotland.

HOME INTERNATIONALS - DAY 1

Following on from last year's inaugural combined team format for the R&A Women’s and Men’s Home Internationals, teams from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales – made up of 16 players (seven women and nine men) – have now gathered at Machynys, Wales to compete in the new format across three days.


Over 18 holes, each match consists of seven foursomes games (three women and four men) and 14 singles games (six women and eight men). Team positions will be determined by the highest number of match points.

Scotland were drawn against the current trophy holders, England, for the first day's play.  After the morning foursomes, England led by 5 points to 2.  In the afternoon Scotland won 5 of the singles matches and halved 2, with England winning the remaining 7, England won the afternoon session 8 - 6.  

Overall match score England 13  Scotland 8.

A long, hard day for the players and they have to do it all over again from 9am tomorrow against Ireland, who were victorious over Wales by 13.5 points to 7.5 today.

THE NORTH OF SCOTLAND - FINAL DAY RESULTS

Commiserations to Kirsten Miller who lost out in this morning's semi-final to the eventual Champion.  A great effort to progress this far in the North of Scotland Championships at Arbroath.

Congratulations to Ellie Docherty (Moray), the 2023 North of Scotland Champion.  She beat Robyn Fowlie (Murcar) by 1 up in the final.


Congratulations also to Karen McGuinness (Newmachar) who won the Handicap Championship.  She beat Wendy Edwards (Forfar) by 1 up in the final.

Congratulations to Kirsten Miller (Blairgowrie) who, with the last putt on the 18th after a superb bunker shot, has won through to tomorrow's North of Scotland Scratch semi-final v Ellie Docherty.

THE NORTH OF SCOTLAND - DAY 1 RESULTS & DRAWS

Aberdeenshires' Robyn Fowlie (Murcar) is the leading qualifier for the NORTH OF SCOTLAND Ladies' Championship at Arbroath.  Well done to P&K Team Member, Katy Alexander who finished with a gross 74.

Congratulations to P&K Junior, Zoe Davidson (Alyth) who won the Scratch Plate in the Girls Championship with a gross 82.

LAURA CAMPBELL WINS HIGHLAND OPEN

Many congratulations to P&K County Team member, Laura Campbell (Pitlochry), who is the Highland Champion 2023 winning the Atholl Cup.  She overcame Isla Moncrieff (Aberfeldy), fellow County Team-mate, in the final.




Congratulations also to County Member, Caroline Henderson (Aberfeldy), who won The Veterans Salver for the best 2 gross scores in the Qualifying Rounds.
