2023 SGM/AGM & PRIZEGIVING

The 2023 Perth & Kinross Ladies' County Golf Association AGM was well attended at Craigie Hill Golf Club yesterday.




The SGM/AGM:

The County President, Lenore Kyle, chaired both meetings, which saw the proposed change to the Constitution, regarding the introduction of an Affiliation Fee, unanimously approved by the 41 members who attended.

There were also a few changes to the Committee: 

Leaving Committee:
Retiring this year was Committee Member Gwen Tate (Kinross).  Our Junior Secretary, Gillian Wallace (Kinross), and Committee Member Susie Gillespie (Aberfeldy) both stepped down this year.

Joining Committee:
We are delighted to announce that Karen Moran (Scottish Golf) has agreed to be our new Junior Secretary and Christine Partridge (Perth Ladies) joined as a new Committee member.

Other changes:
Our President, Lenore Kyle (Milnathort) and Committee Member, Hannah Hislop (Blairgowrie) who had both been co-opted after 2022 AGM, were formally elected to Committee.  Hannah has also volunteered to be our Safeguarding Officer.

Our 2024 Fixture List is still in progress. Full details of the fixtures will be posted on this website as soon as possible.

It was also lovely to see 2 of our Junior Girls there to pick up their trophies:  Zoe Davidson (Alyth) collected the Scratch Championship and the Order of Merit trophies, while Sophie Goult (Auchterarder) received the 9 Hole Championship trophy.

Congratulations to County Team Member, Katy Alexander (Blairgowrie), who has been selected for the Scotland Women's Regional Pool and will be invited to specific training days alongside our High Performance Team members Megan Ashley and Jennifer Saxton.  You're all doing P&K proud.

SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING & ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - INFORMATION

A Special General Meeting will take place immediately before this year’s P&KLCGA AGM on Sunday 29th October 2023 at Craigie Hill Golf Club, Perth.

Registration opens at 10.30am with SGM scheduled for 10.45am, immediately followed by AGM at 11.00am.

A Special General Meeting has been called to discuss and approve amendments to the Constitution which must be resolved before the AGM. The details of the amendments can be found below and have also been emailed to members.

 The girls championship was held today at Dunning GC.

Comrie Golf Course was in lovely condition for our Greensomes today, with very few wet areas evident after the thundery showers the night before.

COMMONWEALTH SPOONS FINAL

Good luck to our 2 qualifying pairs playing in the Commonwealth Spoons National Final at Kings Acre Golf Club, Lasswade on Mon 4 September.

P&K President Lenore Kyle (Milnathort) and Carol Lambie (Dunkeld & Birnam), together with Jean McEwan and Margaret Cairns (both Dunning) are amongst 36 teams competing for the Australian Spoons.

Scottish Women's Medal Grand Final

Well done to County Member Margaret Cairns (Dunning) competing in Scottish Golf's Women's Medal Grand Final at bright and breezy Panmure today.  


Margaret qualified to play at Panmure by finishing 3= in the Qualifying Round at wet & windy Dalmahoy back in July and thoroughly enjoyed it.

P&K LADIES HANDICAP LEAGUE

The round-robin matches have now been completed and the results of all the matches can be found via the link on our website.  


In League A, after a close contest and on countback, Crieff came out on top.  In League B, Auchterarder were the winners.

The neutral venue and date for the final between Crieff & Auchterarder has yet to be decided.

DUNBLANE MEETING - RESULTS

After a cloudy start, the sun shone for our August County Meeting which was held at 100 year old Dunblane Golf Club today.



Well done to Helen Ewen (Muckhart) and Hilary Cunningham (Dunkeld) who both returned the day's best nett score and Isla Moncrieff (Aberfeldy) who recorded the best gross score of the day.

U16/U14 GIRLS' OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP - CARDROSS

Well done to P&K County Junior Lucy Moran (Milnathort) who enjoyed competing in the Scottish Golf's U14 Girls' Open Championships at Cardross at the weekend.  


Playing amongst an international field, Lucy's first round wasn't as low as she'd hoped but she improved on day 2 and played to her handicap, resulting in her handicap index coming down to 9.5 and helping her to move 10 places up the overall leaderboard.

HOME INTERNATIONALS - FINAL DAY

After an early 7.30am start, the Scotland team rallied to win 4 - 3 against Wales in the morning foursomes.


The afternoon singles were a tight affair with the result being a 7 - 7 draw.   This gave Scotland victory over Wales by an overall score of 11 - 10 to secure 3rd place in the Home Internationals.

The other match between England and Ireland would be the title decider. After England led 5-2 from the morning foursomes, they went on to consolidate their lead by winning the afternoon singles 7.5 - 6.5.  The overall result was a victory for England 12.5 - 8.5.

Congratulations to England who have won the Men & Women's Home Internationals 2023 at Machynys.

England made a clean sweep by winning both the women's and men's competitions.

COMRIE GREENSOMES - MON 11TH SEPTEMBER

Our final County meeting this year is a Greensomes at Comrie on Monday 11 September. 

If you fancy an 18-hole Greensomes on a picturesque wee course, then grab a partner and fill out an entry form by clicking on the link below.  If you don't have a partner, let me know and I'll see if I can match you up with another member.
