WELL DONE ALEXANDRA
Congratulations go to Alexandra Bushby who took part in the Helen Holm Scottish women's open amateur stroke-play championship at Troon over the weekend. The event had a handicap ballot of 3 or less. Friday and Saturday Alex returned scores of 79 on Friday and an excellent 76 on Saturday. Par of the course is 75. The field was then cut and Alexandra made the cut to play in the final day on Sunday. Although Alex didn't return such a good score (84) she was, quite rightly, very pleased with her overall performance.
The winner of the tournament was 24 year old Barbara Genuini from near Nice. She won the prestigious title by two strokes with a total of 11-under-par 214 for the 54-hole event.
Well done Alex you did yourself and us proud.

ALEX PLAYS IN THE HELEN HOLM
County Champion Alexandra Bushby is P&K's only entrant in this years Helen Holm Scottish women’s open amateur stroke-play championship over the Troon Portland links. Alex scored a very credible 79 over the par 75 course. Sahra Hassan from South Wales, a Curtis Cup reserve, is in pole position with a very impressive 68.
Well done Alex and we wish her the very best in today's final round.
Fellow squad member Emily Ogilvy would normally feature in this event but is recovering from a dislocated shoulder and did not enter. However I am please to say, Emily is recovering well and is taking part in the County Championship at Alyth.

Only two weeks on Monday to go for our 2008 County Championship Qualifier so please get your entries to me as soon as possible.
As always we will be holding our annual raffle in aid for funds for Jamboree. If you could possibly bring along a raffle prize we would be very grateful. Either pass it onto a committee member or bring it along on the day. Please ask you clubs if they could possibly donate a prize that too would be fantastic.
I have made a wee poster asking for help and would appreciate it if you could download this and place it on your club notice board. Just click on the link below and this will take you to the file and just then download.

SENIOR COACHING
The second of our coaching sessions took place today at Gleneagles Golf Academy. The focus for the day was 'short game' and the pro's certainly put the girls through their paces!! Following a brief sessions the girls, watched by the professionals, played an 18 par competition which consisted of 9 difficult positions that the girls were required to get' up and down' in two shots. Hence the 18 par.
Some of the spots chosen by the boys were extremely testing but the girls rose to the occasion and some of the shots played were fantastic. It also shows the girls which part of their game they should concentrate on.
All the girls enjoyed the coaching and we hope they are ready for a very successful season! Well done girls.

CONGRATULATIONS ANNABEL
Well done Annabel Niven who returned a 80 on the final day of the Scottish Under 16's Open Strokeplay Championship. This score added to the first day 75 placed Annabel in joint 12th place overall and the highest placed Scot. Well done Annabel. I spoke with Annabel on Friday night and she said the conditions were tougher on the final day with some very difficult pin placements. A great start to Annabel's season. Annabel's team Scotland 2 finished 5th one place ahead of Scotland 1 team. England were the overall team winners.
Megan Aird had a 97 to add to her 83 a very creditable total of 180, well done Megan. Emily Aird had 100 in the first round followed by 103 to-day, a total of 203, great effort Emily.

CALLANDER MEETING
Our first County Meeting took place today at Callander and we were extremely lucky with the weather considering the forecast! Most of us stayed dry but unfortunately the very last groups did catch a heavy shower.
The majority of the scoring was relatively high however this did increase the CSS to 71 and REDUCTION ONLY!!! Only one player was below the CSS and that was Elizabeth Campbell with a nett 70, well done Elizabeth. The best scratch of the day was new Perth and Kinross member Laura Walker posting a very credible 75, well done Laura. The full scores were as follows:
Scratch
Laura Walker (Muckhart) 75
Handicap
Elizabeth Campbell (Blair Atholl) (20) 70
Margaret Ewen (Craigie Hill) (18) 72
Lenore Kyle(Milnathort) (12) 74 bih
Elizabeth Fertacz (Dunkeld And Birnam) (9) 74
Well done all.
A very big thank you goes to Callander Golf club for the wonderful welcome we received. The course was in very good condition for so early in the season and the food was absolutely wonderful!! The county always enjoy our visits to Callander and this was no exception.
Also thanks go to our convener Carol Lambie and assistant Pam Drysdale who looked after so well.
Our next meeting is our County Championship qualifier at Alyth so get your entries as soon as possible to Dawn Butchart.

MATCH AT GLENEAGLES
Unfortunately our first inter county friendly match didn't quite go the way we had hoped! All four senior matches went Stirling and Clackmanans way. The team of Laura Walker, Eve Muirhead, Fiona Ramsay, Jillian Milne, Gwen Lambie, Jane Yellowlees, Sal Shepherd and Carol Lambie all did us proud by fighting hard against stiff opposition with some matches going all the way to the 18th. I was very proud to see the fighting spirit if the girls and was very pleased to see the way they supported each other even when their matches were over. Injured squad member Emily Ogilvy also came along to give the girls her support.
The juniors, I am very pleased to say, was a much happier result with both matches going to P&K. The first team were Annabel Niven and Megan Aird who fought hard throughout their match and won by one hole. The girls were giving 7 shots and to play some great golf to win through. The second team were Aillie Burnett and Emily Aird who also won their match 2 up. The girls fought hard and were not daunted by the occasion. The officials of President Liz Miskimmin, Vice Captain Lenore Kyle, Match Secretary Shona Leighton and Junior Assistant Pam Drysdale and myself were all impressed by the standard of play and the way in which all team members conducted themselves on the course.
Well done all and a very big thank you to Match Secretary Shona Leighton for her hard work in the organisation of the event.
