HANNAH DARLING WINS THE ST RULE TROPHY

Scotland's Hannah Darling produced a stunning performance over the weekend to win the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews.
Hannah Darling (Broomieknowe) carded rounds of 71, 76 and 71 to finish on -18 and win the St Rule Trophy by three shots from Clara Young (North Berwick). Lorna Mclymont (Milngavie) finished in 3rd place on -14.

17-year-old Darling, who will start at the University of South Carolina in August, matched the record 18-under 208 aggregate set by Hazel McGarvie two years ago in winning one of the most prestigious titles in women’s amateur golf.

Her performance confirmed her growing reputation as the rising star of Scottish golf and underlined her Curtis Cup credentials.

She adds her name to a distinguished list of top lady amateur golfers, many of whom have gone on to enjoy success on the Ladies European Tour, notably Annika Sorenstam and Catriona Matthew, since inception of the St Rule Trophy in 1984.

The draw for the Commonwealth Spoons Foursomes at Alyth Golf Club (Glenisla  Course) on Thursday 20 May is below. Click to enlarge.
The Convenor is: Committee Member Gwen Tate

The current Scottish Golf COVID-19 Guidance on Foursomes is:
  • “Each partner should use their own golf ball, which is only handled by that player. For example the player teeing off from hole 1 is the only player that touches the ball from the teeing off through to completion of the hole. The partner teeing off from hole 2 does likewise with their ball.”
  • “When marking and replacing the ball on the putting green this should be conducted by the partner the ball belongs to. Under this situation (or any other where the ball must be replaced) the original ball must be used and not be substituted by another ball.”
  • “Under the Rules of Golf a partner is permitted to drop the side’s ball in taking relief. It is also permissible to drop a ball when taking relief.”
