The Perth & Kinross County team put in a fine performance at the Scottish County Finals at the Hirsel Golf Club last weekend. A close tie against Renfrewshire on Friday finished with a win for Renfrewshire 5 - 4. The series of matches against the favourites Fife resulted in a win for Fife by 6 games to 3. Sunday completed the finals weekend with the tie against Galloway which Perth & Kinross won 6 games to 3. Perth & Kinross finished third overall - a very satisfactory result! Building on her excellent performance at the Inter Counties Jamboree in June, Strathmore member Alexandra Bushby was top scorer with 5 points out of 6 - congratulations Alexandra!
A huge thank you to Vice Captain Dawn Butchart for all of her help and support and to County members Lenore Kyle, Pat Colquhoun and Carol Lambie for coming down to Coldstream and caddying for the team for the whole three days. Our thanks also to the Hirsel Golf Club who couldn't have done more for the players and officials especially on Sunday in the torrential rain which lasted most of the day.
My congratulations to the team who have shown commitment and dedication at both the Jamboree and the Scottish Finals and a warm welcome to new team members Sal Shepherd and Gwen Lambie.
Well done everyone!
Captain Janet Griffiths
