COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER

Weather conditions were not easy over Crieff Golf Course today. Infact so much so that only two players broke 80. One player however really was on form and that was squad member Fiona Ramsay who not only broke 80 but almost broke 70! Fiona returned a scratch 70 which was 4 under the par of the course and 5 under the CSS, amazing golf. Emily Ogilvy was 2nd place with a 77. Fiona also took the handicap place with 66 followed by junior member Nicola Robertson with 73.

JUNIOR AND ADULT DAY


After torrential rain the day at Strathmore turned out to be lovely. The scoring was also exceptional with the winner scratch score or 78 being returned by Jillian Milne and junior Claire Gadsby, the best nett which was extremely closely fought was returned by Gwen Lambie and Megan Aird with 72.2.

JUNIOR AND ADULT DAY

Tomorrow Strathmore Golf Centre once more hosts our annual Junior and Adult day. This competition has been running for more that 5 years and hopes to provide up and coming juniors the chance to play with players who, where possible, are or have been squad / team players or officials.

MUNROSS TROPHY

I have been contacted by Claire Penman, Company Secretary Montrose Golf Links Linited who is trying to revamp the Munross Trophy and make it more attractive to catergory 2 players. Below is a message from Claire

'The Munross trophy is a 36 hole competition held by Montrose Links. This year it's on Sunday 5th June. Although it's an order of merit event, the Links are also keen to attract more category 2 players and have altered the prize fund accordingly.'

A wee gentle reminder that our next County Meeting takes places at Crieff on 9th May and this is our Championship Qualifying competition. Just received a reminder from SLGA Championship manager Claire Hargan regarding the Scottish Championship, be good to have some representatives from P&K! 

The closing date is a week today – 12 noon on Monday 18th April. The Championship is being held at Machrihanish Golf Club from 17 – 21 May. More information, including entry forms can be found on the following page of the SLGA web-site:

Our team of new pairings were, unfortunately, beaten fairly comprehensively by Fife, the full results were as follows:

Using these matches is the ideal time to try out new pairings however Fife were just too strong for us on the day in very blustery conditions over the PGA Course at Gleneagles:

NORTH OF SCOTLAND 2011

This years North of Scotland is being hosted by Northern Counties at the most wonderful venue of Nairn Golf Club. The tournament is open to all P&K, Angus, Aberdeenshire and Nothern County Members with both a Scratch and Handicap championship. 

The tournament takes over three days, first day is the qualifying round when the top qualifiers for scratch and handicap go on to a matchplay competition over the next two days, all other players receive a consolation round on the Wednesday.

This is sure to be a very popular venue so please get your entries off as soon as possible. They are available on the right hand side of the page under DOWNLOADS.

JUNIOR WORLD CURLING CHAMPION


Team member Eve Muirhead has made her way into the Curling World Record Book after becoming the Junior World Curling Champion for an unprecedented FOUR times in a row.
Eve's team of  third -Anna Sloan, second - Vicki Adams, lead- Rhiann Macleod, Alternate - Alice Spence and coached by one very proud dad - Gordon Muirhead won this afternoon in the final against Canada when Canada conceded after the 8 ends when Eve and her team had a commanding lead of 10-3.

Well done to you Eve from all at P&K.
