COMMONWEALTH SPOONS AT MILNATHORT - RESULTS

Twenty-one pairs took part in our Commonwealth Spoons (foursomes) at Milnathort Golf Club today. There were some cracking scores.

The results were as follows:

KIRSTY BRODIE WINS THE COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

Kirsty Brodie triumphed at the Perth & Kinross Ladies' County Championship final at Alyth today.  She beat fellow squad member Katy Alexander 4&3 to take the title.

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP - DAY 1 RESULTS

Teenagers triumph on day one of the County Championship.
This afternoon three of our junior members Megan Ashley, Katy Alexander and Amy Mitchell won through to the semi-finals.  The fourth semi finalist, Kirsty Brodie has just moved up to the seniors this year.  Megan Ashley overcame the no 1 seed and defending champion, Jen Saxton on the 18th. Kirsty Brodie won a tight match against fellow squad member Isla Moncrieff also on the 18th. Amy Mitchell won on the 17th despite a spirited fight-back by former Champion Laura Walker.  Katy Alexander eased through comfortably in the final match.

The semi-finals and finals will be held at Alyth tomorrow (see times below). All spectators are welcome.

SQUAD PRACTICE AT BALLATER

So, what did you plan to do this Bank Holiday weekend?  Some of our Senior Squad decided to travel up to Ballater, book into the local Hostel and check out the golf course before the Jamboree in June.

They even persuaded our Match Secretary, Caroline Henderson, to join them!

According to Laura's post on Facebook yesterday, they had a "Great first day up at Ballater... Battled the cold and the sleet, but loved the course."

Well done everyone.  It's great to see you all getting in some practice on the course in preparation for the Jamboree.  Hopefully, it's warmer in June!

P&K GIRLS' McPHERSON MEDALS - CHANGE OF DATE

The date for our last Junior Girls' event has changed.  It will now be held on Sunday 8 September at Strathmore Golf Club, 1.30 pm start.

This is to allow it to be a qualifying event for the 2019 Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship.  It will give our talented girls the opportunity to score low and qualify for the finals at Quinta de Lago.

There will still be a 9 hole competition for the girls with higher (36+) or no handicaps.

FRIENDLY MATCH - P&K LADIES v PITLOCHRY GENTS

P&K Ladies played Pitlochry Gents in a Friendly Match at Pitlochry Golf Club yesterday.  It was good day for golf, both dry and calm, so no excuses.

Thank you to Tom and Mike for their help with organising our match, and to Pitlochry Golf Club for courtesy. The course was in great condition, although it was a challenge playing off the White Tees!

Thanks also to the Gents' Captain, Duncan Munro, and his team for playing against the ladies. It was a great chance to practice and try out pairings ahead of our Jamboree at Ballater in June.
