This year Perth & Kinross are due to host and organise the North of Scotland Championships they will take place at Dunblane New Golf Club on 4th to 6th July. We hope that due to the central location we will attract a good entry. We particularly appeal to P&K members to support us and make this a successful event.

The
President and Committee wish all our members a very Happy and Healthy New Year
and hope that when the rain has stopped we can all enjoy what 2016 has in store
on and off the golf course.
We
have to thank our Past Captain Carol Muir for all her hard work in many roles
for P&KLCGA. Unfortunately, Carol was unable to find a successor and
because it is likely that we will merge with the P&KCGU in the near future,
it was agreed at the AGM in October that the Committee would run P&K in
2016 with our President, Pam Drysdale, presiding over the meetings. Thanks also to Linda Mailer and Rhona
McGeoghegan who retire having served their terms of office. We welcome Lesley
Findlay who replaces Linda as Treasurer and Moira Begbie who joins the
committee.
Amalgamation
Following
the Amalgamation in October of the SLGA and SGU, there are plans to look at the
structure of the Regions and Areas.
P&K have held preliminary talks with P&KCGU and there is a real
desire to move forward in the best interests of all P&K golfers. Alison
Stockley, Pat Hebner, Moira Begbie and Carol Muir (co-opted at AGM) will
represent your interests in these discussions. We are pleased to announce also
that Carol has been co-opted to work at national level on the Regional Forums
and Regions Working Group, recognition of her contribution to golf in the county.
County Squad for 2016
Megan Ashley (Strathmore) Kirsty Brodie (Strathmore)
Laura Campbell (Pitlochry) Steph Crolla (Muckhart)
Gwen Lambie (Dunkeld) Jill Milne (Blairgowrie)

Nicola Robertson (Stirling) Jennifer Saxton (Muckhart)

Rather than Coaching Sessions this year it was decided that ‘on course’ play would be more beneficial to the Senior Squad. Three practice matches have been arranged through the winter; 2 at the Strathtyrum Course at St Andrews & 1 at Strathmore G.C.

North Division
Jamboree
This was held at Murcar G.C in June. The results just did not go our way! Despite the lovely course, we had all
seasons over the 3 days, the only thing that we escaped was the snow! Congratulations
to Angus who were worthy winners.
The 2016 Inter County Team Championships take place at Edzell
G.C from the 11th - 13th June. Anyone who would like to caddy or just come
along to support the team would be most welcome.
North of Scotland Championships
Northern Counties hosted the Championships at
Fortrose & Rosemarkie G.C. P&K had 4 qualifiers from the stroke play competition – Eilidh Watson, Jen Saxton, Nicola
Robertson & Laura Walker.
Congratulations to Eilidh who reached the final, but was beaten by 1
hole by Kimberley Beveridge from Aberdeenshire - a great result nevertheless.
Susan
Ogg, Dunkeld & Birnam, qualified for the Handicap Competition and had a
fabulous run as she won at the 1st extra hole, beating local player
A Mackay (Fortrose & Rosemarkie).
Congratulations
to all the P&K girls.
This
year P&K host the Competition at Dunblane on 4th, 5th
& 6th July. It would be great if our girls could do it again
especially on our home course.

Junior News
Our Junior Girls looked very smart this season thanks to
the new t-shirts and gilets. They have made great improvements in their
handicaps to match. The Junior Championship was contested over Auchterarder.
Kirsty Brodie was Junior Champion pipping Zoe Morton with the better inward
half. Megan Thom was Junior H/C Champion.
The Drysdale and Dallas Trophies were contested over Muthill with Zoe
Morton winning the Drysdale Trophy and Amy Mitchell the Dallas Quaich. Third
meeting was on North Inch with Zoe returning a scratch 74, Faye Mathieson with an amazing net 56 to top the handicap
scores. Congratulations to Megan Ashley who reached the final of the Scottish
under 18s Matchplay Series, to Zoe Morton who won the National under 14s Order of
Merit and to Kirsty Brodie who won the P&K Champion Of Champions at
Blairgowrie.
The Development Programme at Gleneagles and coaching at
Noahs Ark has all gone well this season but the increased costs for the girls
progressing to Level 2/3 places has led us to look at alternatives.
In 2016 we will be developing our own Junior coaching
programme with Niall McGill at Noahs Ark.
Fund Raising
Thank you to everyone who supported the Book Quiz which
raised a very respectable £356 and has inspired us to try another quiz this
year – a variation on the theme! See below. Our raffles have also been very
well supported and raised £717 throughout the season.
Film Quiz - Anagrams of Film Titles Old and New.
You will see we have included copies of the quiz. We can
boost our funds if you can pass these out to friends and families. Just collect £1 entry fee and pass money
over to a Committee Member. Its OK to
take extra copies or download them from our Blog.
Finally our sincere thanks to all the Perth &
Kinross golf clubs who allow us to host our meetings, to Gleneagles and Noah’s
Ark and all those who support us throughout the year.

Scottish Golf - Regional & National Forums
Congratulations to our Past Captain, Carol Muir, who has been invited to be part of the Working Group to oversee the process to consider Regions (Areas and Counties) and establish regional and national forums, as referenced in the amalgamation proposal.
The new Board agreed that both issues are inextricably linked and the group will lead a process to engage and consult with Areas and Counties to determine an agreed way forward for regions and forums.
The Board has therefore established a Regional Forums and Regions Working Group comprising;

CONGRATULATIONS TO MUCKHART
The Scratch League dinner AGM and prize giving took place last night by this years host Blairgowrie GC. Heather Anderson chaired the meeting. Muckhart were announced as this years Scratch League Champions after what was an extremely close fought league. Muckhart pipped Blairgowrie after count back of games by only 0.5.
Muckhart, Blairgowrie and Pitlochry all finished the tournament on 10 points so therefore the placings were decided on games won. Muckhart had 21, Blairgowrie 20.5 and Pitlochry 19.
Our thanks go to Blairgowrie for a lovely dinner last night and in particular Heather and Gillian Wallace for all their efforts this year. Next years hosts are Craigie Hill, however the floor was sad to hear Crieff would no longer be taking part.
Above is the Muckhart team being presented with the trophy from County Captain Carol Muir and below is the full results for 2015.

The Coronation Trophy and Handicap Quaich were contested on King James VI Golf Course today. This meeting was rescheduled from July due to the very heavy rain which unfortunately returned today but the ladies soldiered on and it did eventually dry up.
Due to a wee technical hitch with the Club Systems Software, the original July date will be shown on the CDH returns to your Clubs. Since the competition is Reduction Only, only Lynne Sharp is affected by this. Sorry Lynne and congratulations.

CAPTAIN'S DAY AT CRIEFF
We had a really good turn out at Crieff for Captain's Day. The early starters got a bit wet but the rain cleared by mid morning and everyone had an enjoyable day. Captain Carol set the scene well with chocolate for sustenance on the course and she also laid on special prizes for the day.
Our thanks to Iain Simpson and all the staff at Crieff who helped make it a successful day. Thanks also to all the ladies who supported the raffle which made £110 for the funds.

Congratulations go to County Champion Jen Saxton who has been named as a reserve for the Scottish Team to play in the Ladies Home Internationals in September.
Also our congratulations go to junior member Katriona Taylor (Crieff) who was selected to accompany Cathy Panton to Buckinghamshire to hand in the bid for the Solheim Cup on behalf of Gleneagles. A great experience for her.
