The Scottish Girls' (Close) Amateur Championship is underway at Eyemouth Golf Club with yesterday (Tuesday 13 July) the first qualifying round. The top 32 girls' qualifying for the main Championship following the second qualifying round which will be played today (Wednesday 14 July). The next 16 players will qualify for the second flight to play for the Ansley Reid Salver.

Rachael Watton, Mortonhall leads the Scottish Girls' qualifying at Eyemouth Golf Club after the first round. Her level par 73 is three shots ahead of Gillian Scanlon, Hamilton and four clear of Lesley Atkins, Gullane.

Two girls are competing from P&K they are Eilidh Watson (Muckhart) and Hannah Robb (Strathmore). Hannah kindly contacted me with an update of the scores and conditions at Eyemouth. She said the putting was particularly difficult with fast greens and tricky pin positions making the scoring hard. Hannah returned a scratch score of 88 which at present places her just outside the qualifying in joint 34th position, Eilidh returned a 83 placing her tied 18th.

So all to play for. Good luck girls and I will try to keep you all informed of the scores today.
