Congratulations to Katy Alexander (Blairgowrie) who won the University of St Andrews School Girls' Championship earlier this month.
The annual tournament, which is supported by The R&A and The Links Trust, is organised and run by the University of St Andrews Ladies' Golf Club. This year the Championship, which is a Scottish Golf Order of Merit event, took place on the weekend of the 3rd & 4th of August 2019.
The field is split into two categories. Players with a handicap of 12.4 or under play in a scratch stroke-play competition for the Renee Powell Cup. Players with a handicap between of 12.5 to 24 compete in a stableford competition for the Carol Kaufmann Shield. There is also an overall handicap prize for the entire field.
The competitors play 54-holes at the St Andrews Links, one round each over the Eden Course, the Strathtyrum Course and the Jubilee Course. The first two on Saturday and the last one on Sunday.
The previous winners of the Renee Powell Cup include Rachael Foster (Prestwick St Nicholas) in 2018, Lorna McClymont (Milngavie) in 2017 and Kirsty Brodie (Strathmore) in 2016.
