County team member Roseanne Niven (Crieff) has just taken part in her third tournament in the USA. Over the past two days, Roseanne and her team mates from the University of California Berkeley have competed in the Spartan Invitational at the Almaden Country Club in San Jose, California. The team finished an excellent joint 2nd out of 13 teams. Roseanne finished a very creditable joint 19th with scores of 77, 74 and 75. Well done Roseanne!

County squad member Roseanne Niven (Crieff) completed her first tournament on the college golf circuit in the USA this week. Roseanne, who had to pre-qualify to make the University of California Berkeley team scored rounds of 79,79 & 80 to finish tied 51st on +25. The tournament held at the Palos Verdes Golf Club attracted a very strong field including Tara Delaney, Belen Mozo and Anna Nordqvist. The winner of the tournament was Misun Cho from Pepperdine University who finished on +5.

Roseanne emailed to say "they say the course is the 'US open of college golf' because the greens were ridiculously fast! I could have scored better if I hadn't had so many double bogies but never mind it was fun!"

Well done Roseanne and we wish you all the best for the next tournament.

Congratulations to County squad member Annabel Niven (Crieff) , below, who has been selected to represent Scotland (team 2 ) in the SLGA Under 16s Open Strokeplay Championships at Craigielaw Golf Club on 5th & 6th April 2007.

County Squad member Annabel Niven (Crieff) was selected for SLGA Winter Training - Under 15s Squad - this is what she says about her experiences -

"I was lucky enough to be selected for Scottish coaching. This kept me motivated during the winter months and it was very beneficial. I enjoyed both my weekends I went to and had good fun. We covered all aspects of the game, including short game, long game and we also played 9 holes on the course both weekends. We also covered statistics and general preparation for competitions. All the things that I learnt will be useful for the future and I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend. "

GOOD LUCK ROSEANNE

County Team member Roseanne Niven takes part in her first Tournament since joining Berkeley University this year. The Tournament is being held 12th to 14th February at Palos Verdes, LA.

Roseanne says 'We leave tomorrow so I'm very excited about that. I am so busy it's unbelievable!'

It is fantastic to hear Roseanne has settled into her new surrounding so well and we all wish her the very best in her maiden tournament.

Congratulations to Carly Booth, the 14-year-old County junior member from Comrie, who had rounds of 72 and 72 for a four-over-par total of 144 in the Florida Junior Classic at the weekend. She finished runner-up, pipped by one stroke, by Doris Chen from Taiwan.

Congratulations to Roseanne Niven who, following her highly successful season - including winning the Scottish Under 18's Championship and achieving full international honours with her selection for the Ladies Home Internationals, has been offered honorary membership of Crieff Golf Club - well done Roseanne!

County squad member Jacqueline Sneddon (Alyth) who was invited to play in the Women's section of the Dixie Amateur at the Palm Aire Golf and Country Club at Pompano Beach near Fort Lauderdale, Florida from 2nd to 5th of January 2007, failed to make the cut after two rounds. She scored rounds of 88 and 89 - well done though Jacqueline - it must have been a great experience.

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who helped with the bag packing event at Marks & Spencer's yesterday.

A big thank you also to Jillian Milne who arranged the event for us, M & S for allowing us to be there and the wonderful folk of Perth for their generosity.

We raised a massive £870.95 !!!

The money will go towards coaching for all juniors and senior squad members.

County team member Roseanne Niven (Crieff) finished with a last round with of 77 for 34th place on 324 in the 43rd Junior Orange Bowl international golf championship over the Biltmore Hotel golf course on Anastasia Avenue in Coral Gables, Florida. She had a double bogey at the 10th but cancelled that out with an eagle 3 at the long 13th, which had to be her highlight of the 72 holes. Her earlier scores were 83, 82 and 82. Roseanne will enrol on a four-year golf scholarship at the University of Berkeley, California in the New Year. Sally Watson of Elie & Earlsferry finished 12th on 301.

Well done to both girls and good luck to Roseanne with her studies in California.

Carly who is a student at the IMG David Leadbetter Golf Academy at Bradenton, had a two round total of 160.

Congratulations to Carly Booth (Comrie) who has been named in the LGU Training Squad for close season training in preparation for 2007 team events - the Vagliano Trophy and Commonwealth Tournament. Carly, still only aged 14, is one of the youngest players ever to be selected for a GB&I training squad.
