Nell Scott Quaich 1st Round

The first round of the Nell Scott Quaich took place today over the Arndean/Naemoor Course at Muckhart.

Nell Scott Quaich 1st Round -  CSS 74   (Reduction Only)

Scratch: Isla Moncrieff 87, Gillian Wallace 88 (bih), Helen Wynd 88
Net: Helen Wynd 75 (13), Margaret Ewen 79 (17) bih, Isla Moncrieff 79 (9)

Congratulations to all the ladies who battled their way round in such blustery weather. You all deserve a medal!

This is the first time we have uploaded the results directly to your Home Clubs. Although we had most of the CDH IDs, some of the ladies are shown on the Central Database as not being attached to a club. This is probably because you have changed clubs.

I would be grateful if you would all make sure that your scores have been received by your Home Club even although the results are Reduction Only and will not affect your handicap.  This will just confirm that everything is being processed correctly.

If there are any problems perhaps you could let me know

email: pathebner@aol.com  tel: 01738626582

See you at Strathmore.

ROADS TO MUCKHART

Pat has contacted me with a small problem regarding the road to Muckhart from the south end. Below is a quick explaination from Pat.

We have been told that the road to Muckhart Golf Club from just beyond Dollar has been closed and may still be on Thursday. We would suggest you go through the Yetts of Muckhart and take the A823 (Dunfermline road). Along this road turn right which will take you to the Golf Club.

Hope you all have a great day!

FOUR ROUNDS IN A ROW

Linda Mailer sent me the following information:

On 7th June 2013 four ladies from King James V1 Golf Club (2 of whom are County Players - Linda Mailer and Liz Angus) will be playing 4 rounds of golf in 1 day at KJV1. The reason for this madness ? MONEY!!!! I'm sure we all know of someone who has benefitted from the care and support offerred by The MacMillan Cancer Support Charity. We won't notice the tiredness or the sore feet quite so much if we know that lots of money will be going to such a worthwhile cause.

The Fair Isle Sweaters(our team name) would be very grateful for any contributions no matter how small. At the next couple of games there will be a box on the registration table for any donations you may wish to make

Many thanks

Linda Mailer

What a great idea to raise money for an excellent cause. Hope you can all support Linda if you possibly can.

WINNING START FOR COUNTY TEAM

Below is a report from County Captain Pat Colquhoun following an impressive start for our county squad and juniors, well done all

Friendly Match V Fife at Gleneagles,Kings Course on Saturday 13th April.

The day started off bright and sunny but soon clouded over, the wind got a bit stronger and it became quite chilly.

Considering the Gleneagles courses have been closed all over Easter and beyond, it was in amazing condition. Some of the bunkers still had a lot of snow lying in them. Four of our potential team members were unable to play and their substitutes did extremely well. Vice Captain carol Muir was called in a few days ago. The seniors played 4 ball better ball and the juniors played greensomes. At the halfway house, we were down in 2 matches all square in one and one up in the other. Kirsty and Claire were giving 7 strokes and the two Jennifers were giving 12 strokes to their opponents.

A brilliant result and well done to all in the team.

Scores:- Laura Walker and Gwen Lambie lost to Susan Jackson and Fiona Hastie 5 and 4

Jillian Milne and Emily Aird beat Elaine Moffat and Karin Sharp 2 and 1

Emily Ogilvy and Fiona Ramsay beat Lorna McKinlay and Sam Munro 2 up

Carol Muir and Hannah Robb beat Linda Dyball and Diane Watson 2 up

Claire Gadsby and Kirsty Brodie beat Lori Gilfilland and Brogan Clark 2 and 1

Jennifer Saxton and Jennifer Duncan beat Chelsea Black and Abbi Wallace 4 and 3

OUR EVE ON POINTLESS

Was delighted to see our County Champion Eve Muirhead on Pointless last night. The question was what sport these Captains played in. Ofcourse it was curling and the Scottish couple who were on guessed her and the other couple picked Jose Maria Olazabal and only three more people knew he was the Captain of The Ryder Cup Team!! 18 people knew Eve and 21 knew Olly.

Well done Eve, fame really has caught up on you!!

THANK YOU FROM LENORE

Once again very many thanks to all my very dear friends in P&K County who have sent so many wonderful cards and messages of good luck for my recovery.

I had a visit from Captain Pat bringing a beautiful bouquet of flowers from all of you they are brightening up my days and I am thinking about you. Pat also brought enough food to choke a donkey including the famous Jamboree shortbread (all to myself!!).

I am improving every day, looking forward to the start of the season and seeing everyone very soon.

All my love

Lenore.

Our thoughts and best wishes are with Lenore who is a very popular person not only within the county but by everyone who knows her.
Take Care Lenore x

A MESSAGE FROM LENORE

Below is a message from Lenore who is recovering at home.

I am now home safe and sound, a bit sore but on the whole very positive. I really appreciate the support of the P&K County Members, I cannot tell you how much I have benefited from all the good wishes I have received in the form of cards, emails and text messages. I am sure that all these positive thoughts have aided my recovery up to now and will continue in the future. I can assure you it will not be long until I am out there chasing the wee white ball with everyone.

My sincere thanks to all my dear friends.

Lenore.

EVE IS SCOTTISH CHAMPION

Many congratulations to our team member and County Champion Eve Muirhead on winning the Scottish Women’s Curling title in Perth at the week-end. This is Eve’s fourth time winning the National title. She lost only one game out of the ten she played and that was by one shot in the last end.

Eve and her rink now go to Latvia next month to compete in the World Championships.

Janet Griffiths and I went along to watch Eve in action and she really looked great in action and as always was pleased to see us come along to support her.  She works really hard at her sport and deserves all the titles she gains. A very talented athlete indeed.

We wish you every success Eve.

NEW SEASON 2013

There  are a few months to go before our first Competition but we are getting ready to send out the new Membership Renewal Forms and Fixture Lists etc for 2013.

In order to save postage this year, we are going to batch up the envelopes and deliver them to your Home Club. You will be able to pick yours up by the middle of February if not earlier.

If you will not be at your Club you can print off a Renewal Form from the web site where you will also be able to read the Captain's Newsletter and see the Fixture List for 2013.

We understand that not everyone is comfortable using the internet so it would be great if those of us who are at our Clubhouse over the coming weeks can help distribute any envelopes which have not been picked up.
