P&K PLAYERS LOSE OUT

Nicola Robertson of Dunblane New played a great round of golf today but unfortunately narrowly lost out to her opponent Tara McTaggart 2&1. Nicola contacted me this evening and gave this short report  'I was 4 down after 12 holes then won the next 3 with 3 birdies. I then lost the 16th and halved the 17th to lose 2 and 1. I was 3 over par for the front nine and 2 under par for the back 8.'

Well done Nicola a wonderful display of golf and a great performance all round.

Hannah Robb who made it through to the 2nd flight also unfortunately lost out to her opponent Catherine Goodwin of Glenbervie 4&2.

Well done to both. You did us proud!

EMILY NEW P&K CHAMPION

Huge congratulations to Emily Ogilvy who after years of supporting and representing P&K has become our new County Champion. Runner Up Jennifer Saxton gave Emily an excellent game which was enjoyed by the spectators who came along on what was a cold and windy day. Emily won the match on the 15th hole 4&3.

Below is a photo of our Gibb Trophy Champion Lesley Whitwood and runner up Helen Payne.

A short slide show of photos is below.

MORNING RESULTS FROM STRATHMORE

The semi finals of the P&K Championships took place this afternoon at Strathmore golf Centre and the spectators certainly got a great mornings golf to watch. Both semi-finals went to the wire and were not decided until the 19th hole. Young Jennifer Saxton (Kinross) who this year entered year three of the Scottish Golf Academy showed experience beyond her years by winning her match against past champion Laura walker (Muckhart). In the other semi final Emily Ogilvy (Muckhart), after a year off from competitive golf, was back on form and beat past champion Jillian Milne (Craigie Hill) again on the 19th.

The final takes place at 2pm to which spectators are invited to come along and enjoy a great display of golf by both finalists.

The final of the Gibb Trophy also took place this morning and worthy finalists Helen Payne and Lesley Whitwood certainly did not disappoint the spectators with great golf being played by both. Our congratulations go to Lesley who was victorious with a margin of 3&2.

Well done to all and good luck to both Championship finalist.

Nell Scott Quaich 1st Round

The first round of the Nell Scott Quaich took place today over the Arndean/Naemoor Course at Muckhart.

Nell Scott Quaich 1st Round -  CSS 74   (Reduction Only)

Scratch: Isla Moncrieff 87, Gillian Wallace 88 (bih), Helen Wynd 88
Net: Helen Wynd 75 (13), Margaret Ewen 79 (17) bih, Isla Moncrieff 79 (9)

Congratulations to all the ladies who battled their way round in such blustery weather. You all deserve a medal!

This is the first time we have uploaded the results directly to your Home Clubs. Although we had most of the CDH IDs, some of the ladies are shown on the Central Database as not being attached to a club. This is probably because you have changed clubs.

I would be grateful if you would all make sure that your scores have been received by your Home Club even although the results are Reduction Only and will not affect your handicap.  This will just confirm that everything is being processed correctly.

If there are any problems perhaps you could let me know

email: pathebner@aol.com  tel: 01738626582

See you at Strathmore.

ROADS TO MUCKHART

Pat has contacted me with a small problem regarding the road to Muckhart from the south end. Below is a quick explaination from Pat.

We have been told that the road to Muckhart Golf Club from just beyond Dollar has been closed and may still be on Thursday. We would suggest you go through the Yetts of Muckhart and take the A823 (Dunfermline road). Along this road turn right which will take you to the Golf Club.

Hope you all have a great day!

FOUR ROUNDS IN A ROW

Linda Mailer sent me the following information:

On 7th June 2013 four ladies from King James V1 Golf Club (2 of whom are County Players - Linda Mailer and Liz Angus) will be playing 4 rounds of golf in 1 day at KJV1. The reason for this madness ? MONEY!!!! I'm sure we all know of someone who has benefitted from the care and support offerred by The MacMillan Cancer Support Charity. We won't notice the tiredness or the sore feet quite so much if we know that lots of money will be going to such a worthwhile cause.

The Fair Isle Sweaters(our team name) would be very grateful for any contributions no matter how small. At the next couple of games there will be a box on the registration table for any donations you may wish to make

Many thanks

Linda Mailer

What a great idea to raise money for an excellent cause. Hope you can all support Linda if you possibly can.

WINNING START FOR COUNTY TEAM

Below is a report from County Captain Pat Colquhoun following an impressive start for our county squad and juniors, well done all

Friendly Match V Fife at Gleneagles,Kings Course on Saturday 13th April.

The day started off bright and sunny but soon clouded over, the wind got a bit stronger and it became quite chilly.

Considering the Gleneagles courses have been closed all over Easter and beyond, it was in amazing condition. Some of the bunkers still had a lot of snow lying in them. Four of our potential team members were unable to play and their substitutes did extremely well. Vice Captain carol Muir was called in a few days ago. The seniors played 4 ball better ball and the juniors played greensomes. At the halfway house, we were down in 2 matches all square in one and one up in the other. Kirsty and Claire were giving 7 strokes and the two Jennifers were giving 12 strokes to their opponents.

A brilliant result and well done to all in the team.

Scores:- Laura Walker and Gwen Lambie lost to Susan Jackson and Fiona Hastie 5 and 4

Jillian Milne and Emily Aird beat Elaine Moffat and Karin Sharp 2 and 1

Emily Ogilvy and Fiona Ramsay beat Lorna McKinlay and Sam Munro 2 up

Carol Muir and Hannah Robb beat Linda Dyball and Diane Watson 2 up

Claire Gadsby and Kirsty Brodie beat Lori Gilfilland and Brogan Clark 2 and 1

Jennifer Saxton and Jennifer Duncan beat Chelsea Black and Abbi Wallace 4 and 3
