No 2 seed Jen Saxton beat leading qualifier & twice former champion Laura Walker 5 and 4 in all Muckhart final at Strathmore Golf Centre today. Laura played her best golf in reaching the final but Jen gave a very steady
performance. She was two up at the turn.
Amy Thomson from Dunblane, who plays off 19, and was the leading qualifier, won
the handicap title. She won by 4 and 2 in the final against home course
player Cathy McNab who has a handicap of 26. In the morning's semi-finals, Laura Walker, County Champion in 2008 and 2010, beat US college student Nicola Robertson (Stirling) 6 and 5. No 2 qualifier, Jen was a winner by 3 and 1 over Laura Campbell (Pitlochry).
County Captain, Carol Muir would like to thank David at Strathmore Golf Centre for allowing us to hold our County Champs this year and accommodating all requests for changing tee times and permitting us to bring our tee time forward this afternoon to beat the weather.
The course was in great condition and greens were very good despite the wind and rain of the last
few weeks, so our thanks to the green keepers for all their hard work. Catering and bar staff have been terrific as usual, despite Alison and Carol not receiving chocolates with their lattes!!!
Finally thanks to Dawn Butchart for refereeing the Scratch Final and to Alison Stockley for all her
assistance this week, We couldn't do all this without you.
