LATEST RESULTS FROM PAM

Following Roseanne into this afternoons play after a 4-3 win over Fiona Blair this morning is County Champion Carly Booth. Unfortunately both Jacqueline Sneddon and Annabel Niven were knocked out in the first round. Jacqueline played previous Scottish Team member Sally Watson and played extremely well taking Sally to the 17th before being defeated 3-1. Young Annabel played her heart out but Amanda Edwards took control of the game winning 5-4.
Sally Kettlewell throw off her disappointment at not making it into the Championship draw and came out all guns blazing winning her tie 8-6. Sally certainly seems to have returned to her form and played some beautiful golf.

Our commiserations go to Jacqueline and Annabel who should be very proud of their achievments this week and all our very best to Roseanne, Carly and Sally for this afternoon.

Thanks to Pam for keeping us up to date!

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

Firstly must apologies for not providing any news for a week or so and very sorry I was unable to get internet access whilst up in Elgin therefore was unable to keep the web updated however I am sure you would have managed to keep up to date at Gillian Kirkwoods site. I am sure you will all agree the girls played their hearts out and were very unlucky not to have progressed to 2nd place. However there is always next year!

Now to club new. Creiff played their Ladies final on Friday and Team Member and County Champion Carly Booth played county member Elaine Davidson in the final. Carly played to her extremely high standard and won 8 & 7.

Comrie have also completed their Championship. County Vice Captain Janet Griffiths and county member Elaine Davidson (finalist from Crieff) played great golf with Janet winning on the 17th 2 & 1.

Well done to both Carly and Janet who now go forward to the Champion of Champions at Gleneagles later in the season. Our commiserations go to Elaine who played very well to reach both finals.

P&K GIRLS DO US PROUD

Team Members Emily Ogilvy (Muckhart) and Carly Booth (Auchterarder) did P&K proud by finishing 4th and 5th respectively today at the Munross Trophy women's open over the Montrose Links. A fantastic two rounds from Emily of 74 and 72 one over and one under the CSS of the day was a fantastic result, Emily who has not yet played above her handicap of 3 since returning from the states this summer gives us great encouragement as we go into the county team finals this weekend. County Champion Carly Booth who recently reduced her handicap to 1, played brilliantly shooting a 75 and a one under 72.
This was also a order of merit competition therefore both will have enhanced their already good standing
Great result girls, well done.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

Both Alyth and Craigiehill hosted their Club Championships this weekend with both clubs placing new names on the champions boards.

Alyth gained a new champion, junior member Jacqueline Sneddon beat Shona Leighton. Shona who has held the championship over the last few years stated that although she played well over the first 9 holes Jacqueline simply played bettter than she did over the last nine.

Jacqueline is a member of the P&K Elite Girls Squad and is currently enjoying a scolarship provided though the county, at Gleneagles. This extra coaching is obviously paying off! She is certainly a great hope for us for the future. Well done.

Craigiehill also welcomed a new Champion. P&K Team Member Jillian Milne won her first Craigiehill championship beating past County Champion Nicki Harding in their final on Sunday. Nicki who has held the chamionship over the last few years lost her reign after a hard fought match.

Please let me know all the details of your Club Championships as they happen.

Thanks

CONGRATULATIONS HAZEL!

Past County Captain and team member Hazel Gibson (Murrayshall) bagged her fourth 'hole in one' at the 108 yard 4th at Murrayshall on Saturday 28th May. On a windy day Hazel took her 8 iron and hit her ball 3 foot from the pin it then rolled beautifully into the cup!

Hazel, a great supporter of P&K, was playing in the Summer Trophy and luckily the 4th is the designated hole therefore a Sunday post putter should also be winging its way to Hazel. Well done Hazel from all at P&K!

CARLY PLAYS 3 UNDER

County Champion and Team Member Carly Booth came rocketing into the St Rule Trophy reckoning at St Andrews with the lowest score of the second round - a fantastic three-under-par 73. This added to her Saturday score of 79 over the New Course gives her a total of 152 and puts her in joint third place, only three behind the leader, Anne Laing, with one round still to go over the Old Course. Unfortunately Carly had a two-stroke penalty imposed on Saturday as her caddie-dad Wally stood directly behind her as she was driving. Without this Carly would only have been one shot off the pace after two rounds.
Carly showed great character by not letting the incident upset her and went on the play a brilliant second round. Carly was out in one under par 37 with birdies at the long fifth and ninth and a bogey at the sixth. She had an eagle 3 at the par-5 13th, dropped a shot at the 16th but birdied the Road Hole 17th which is a par-5 from the LGU tee. Carly played an excellent approach shot, giving herself a chance of another eagle however she missed the 8 foot putt and was left with only a tap in for a birdie 4.
With one round to go there is all to play for!

Her scoring was:
OUT: 4 5 4 5 4 5 4 3 3 - 37 (one under par).IN: 4 3 4 3 5 4 5 4 4 - 36 (two under par)

Another county Team member and former County Champion Roseanne Niven was also played well with a 82 over the new course and a 77 over the old course this morning.

I will try to keep you posted on the eventual outcome of the days play.

SCOTTISH TEAMS ANNOUNCED

The Scotland team of four for the European girls’ team championship at Lucerne, Switzerland from July 5 to 9 has been announced. The squad, to be captained by former international Sheena Wood (Aberdeen Ladies), is:
Carly Booth (Auchterarder).
Krystle Caithness (St Regulus).
Kelsey MacDonald (Nairn Dunbar).
Sally Watson (Elie & Earlsferry).
Reserves1 Megan Briggs (Kilmacolm).2 Roseanne Niven (Crieff)

With two of our girls either in the team or a reserve is an excellent achievement and we wish them well.

Our congratulations also go to Emily Ogilvy who has been chosen to be one of the players who have their scores count for Scotland in international team events at individual tournaments. Emily's score will be counted at the Women’s Irish Open amateur championship (The Hermitage, July 23-24).

Well done to all the girls.

A WEE REMINDER!!

Following the disapointing weather on Thursday for our County Meeting at Dunning please remember to get your entries into Dawn for our next event at Strathmore Golf Club on Monday June 13th.
Hopefully the sun will shine - or at least be dry!

SCOTTISH FINAL -LAING AND LOCKHART

After defeating young Sally Watson in the semi finals of the Scottish Womens Amateur Championship, Anne Laing is one match away from becoming only the fourth player in the 102-year championship history to win the title three years in a row. Anne a Curtis Cup player and Vale of Leven Golf Club member beat young Sally 3 and 2 in the semi-finals this afternoon. The other finalist is Fiona Lockhart the Fife County Champion. Fiona was one down on the 17th tee against 19-year-old Stirling University student Kylie Walker however Fiona squared the match at the 17th, halved the 18th and then once again won on the 19th with a par 4.

EMILY LOSES OUT TO YOUNGSTER

Sally Watson (Elie & Earlsferry) was once again under par winning 4 and 3 against 19-year-old Team Member Emily Ogilvy. Emily lost the first after finding herself bunkered and although Emily matched Sally's birdies at the fifth and sixth, Sally's third birdie of the outward half, a 3 at the eighth, put the younger player three up. The on form Sally went on to birdie the 12th, which put her four up.

Considering Emily only arrived back home last week she has produced some of her best ever golf. She has done herself and P&K proud.

This mornings full results were as follows:

F Lockhart (St Regulus) bt K Marshall (Baberton) at 19th
K Walker (Stirling Univ) bt C Hargan (Mortonhall) 4 and 3.
A Laing (Vale of Leven) bt C-M Carlton (Stirling Univ) 5 and 4.
S Watson (Elie & Earlsferry) bt E Ogilvy (Muckhart) 4 and 3.

This afternoons semi final will be defending champion Anne Laing against 13-year-old Sally Watson The other semi-final will feature Fiona Lockhart (St Regulus) against 19-year-old Kylie Walker (Stirling University & Buchanan Castle).

EMILY MAKES IT TO THE LAST EIGHT

Emily Ogilvy did P&K proud when Scottish Internationalist Louise Kenny lost out by 2 and 1 to Emily (Muckhart) in a battle between the two American college players. Louise Kenny has been an outstanding player for Iowa State University for the past two seasons. Emily only 19 is now beginning to show her true potential. Emily birdied the first two holes and although Louise pulled back to all square at the 10th hole, Emily showed great spirit with birdies at the 14th and 15th and eventually won the match 2&1.
A fantastic show of golf, well done.
Emily now goes head to head with the 13-year-old overnight sensation of the tournament, Sally Watson from South Queensferry.

Good Luck Emily, we are all behind you!

Carly Booth played outstanding golf at the weekend to win her first ever County Championship. On Saturday Carly won both her matches against Joan Ritchie(Auchterarder) and Nicki Harding (Craigiehill) which lead to a fantastic semi-final against reigning County Champion Roseanne Niven (Crieff). It was a superb match with birdies and eagles to win holes it was a pleasure to watch both the girls in action. However there has to be one winner and Carly came through to win 3&2.

On the other half of the draw Emma Napper played extremely well to win both her matches on Saturday against Gillian Wallce (Glenisla) and Shona Leighton(Alyth) which led to her semi final against the No 1 seed and fellow clubmate Avril Ker (Craigiehill). On a very close fought match Emma won by 2 holes.

Emma and Carly tee off at 11.52 and with the sun shining down, both played some great golf. Carly won the championship on the 14th green 5&4.

Annabel played beautfully all weekend winning her first match against Maggie Bruce (Alyth) 4&3 then in the afternoon she won against the number one seed Susan Ogg 7&5. Carly Booth winner of Faldo Series at Carnoustie Championship Course

Carly wins by one shot

County Team Member, Carly Booth, won the girls’ top placing yesterday with a five-over-par 79, one ahead of Michele Thomson (McDonald Ellon), in the first Scottish qualifying competition of the 2005 Nick Faldo Junior Series played over the Carnoustie Championship links in what was a very wet and windy day which raised the women’s coures CSS from 75 to 77.
Carly had halves of 40 and 39 and her only birdie, at the 16th, proved to be decisive.

Following her excellent play at Helen Holms Carly is now in 6th place in the new Paull & Williamsons Order of Merit.

Well done Carly

Also congratulations go to County Junior Member Jacqueline Sneddon (Alyth) who shot a 93. Jacqueline who is currently taking advantage of P&K sponsorship at Gleneagles and is a member of the Elite training squad is showing great promise for the future. Well done Jacqueline, keep it up!

Congratulations Carly

Warm congratulations to Carly Booth who scored a fantastic 225 at the Helen Holm over Royal Troon at the weekend. She ended only 6 over par for the three rounds which considereing 5 shots were lost on the first day makes the scoring even more impressive. Carly who at 12 years of age was the youngest competitor in the field, returned a score of 80 which really was a game of two halves. Playing for the first time in the event, she struggled to the turn in 46, but came home in fine style with a three-under-par inward card of 34. Her next two cards of 75 and 76 completed her score.

Well done Carly

practice Matches at Gleneagles and Crieff

Our County Squad played two practice Matches on what was a very blustery weekend. The first match was against Stirling University over the Queens Course, Gleneagles on Saturday. Unfortunately Stirling could not provide a full team and only 4 players were available. However the players who did take part were extremely strong and although our players played some exciting golf we lost 2-0. The pairings for the day was as follows:
Avril Ker and Dawn Butchart
Jillian Milne and Carly Booth
Our thanks go to Glenealges for providing courtesy.
Sunday was a more successful day when the squad played a practice match against the Crieff men's Scratch League Team. Unfortunately Roseanne Niven was ill and could not make the day. Pat Colquhoun, kindly came along to complete the 10 strong squad. Jane Yellowlees is also unable to play at present due to a back injury. The wind was even stronger than before however the girls played some super golf and the score line was 3 1/2 - 1 1/2. The pairings for the day were as follows:

Fiona Ramsay & Sally Kettlewell
Avril Ker & Sal Shepherd
Dawn Butchart & Jillian Milne
Carly Booth & Gillian Wallace
Pat Colquhoun & Alison Stockley.

The first 3 pairing all won their matches and with a half for the Carly and Gillian this completed the overall win. Well done all.

Our thanks must go to the gents at Crieff for a very enjoyable day and a lovely supper which they kindly provided following the days play. Also thanks to Crieff Golf Club who provided Courtesy.

Carly, Roseanne and Krystal. Scotland Team 1 who won the St Leonards Team event.

CARLY LOSES BY ONE SHOT

Fellow Scottish Team mate and defending Champion Krystle Caithness (St Regulus)pipped Carly Booth (Auchterarder) once again for the title in the SLGA St Leonards Under-16 girls' open stroke-play championship at Strathtyrum Course, St Andrews on Friday.
Due to the weather conditions the event was reduced to 27 holes.

Carly was on great form as she birdied the fifth and had pars at the rest of the first six holes. But unfortunately she then bogeyed the seventh and eighth and that cost the County Team player her first national title.

Past Champion of the event and our County Champion Roseanne Niven was fifth.

Scotland No 1 Team - represented by Carly, Roseanne and Krystal - retained the team title with a total of 223 - nine shots ahead of England - with Scotland 2 - third on 235.

County Junior Member Lucy Gilmour (Strathmore) who is currently one of our girls who is enjoying sponsorship at Gleneagles through P&K won the Skills Test from her age group.

Well done girls!

SLGA St Leonards U16 Championship
WEATHER CUTS GIRLS' GOLF TO 27 HOLES

With winds sending balls in all directions and even blowing a pin from the cup, weather-hit SLGA St Leonards Under-16 girls' open stroke-play championship over the Strathtyrum Course, St Andrews has been reduced from two rounds to 27 holes. Play was suspended yesterday (THURSDAY) leaving 27 girls still to complete their first rounds.

Title-holder Krystle Caithness (St Regulus), leads by one shot with a fantastic round of 75 - one ahead of Kelsey MacDonald (Nairn Dunbar) and our own County Team member Carly Booth (Auchterarder) sharing third place overnight with English challengers Rachel Connor (Manchester) and Gemma Hardie (Forest Pines) on 77. County Champion Roseanne Niven (Crieff)scored 80.

As the weather forecast is again poor for today (FRIDAY)it was decided, after consultation with the team captains, that the girls who have still to finish their first rounds go out first. Then the second round will consist of only nine holes.

Both Roseanne and Carly are representing Scotland in the Team event. Scottish Team 1 are leading the field on 152 with Scotland 2 their nearest challengers on 156, three ahead of England (159) with Ireland (164), Netherlands (168) and Wales (170).

We send all our best wishes to Carly and Roseanne and hope the weather shows some improvement over the day!
