Mirim Lee (KOR) snatched a surprise victory from Nelly Korda (USA) and Brooke Henderson (CAN) with a birdie at the first extra hole after chipping her way into the three-way play-off for the title.
It is fair to say that Korda and Henderson were completely stunned. All day, it had been a head-to-head between the two LPGA stars. With a few holes to play it seemed inconceivable that someone else would come through.
Credit to Lee though, who had not won on the LPGA Tour for three years. The 29 year-old shot a five-under-par 67 in the final round, including three chip-ins, the first for a birdie at the 6th, the second for a birdie at the 16th and the third for a dramatic eagle on the 18th, to finish tied at -15 with Korda and Henderson and earn herself a place in the play-off.
The top Brit was Mel Reid (ENG), who finished tied for 7th on -8.
