SEVEN SCOTS MAKE THE CUT AT WOMEN'S AMATEUR

Denmark's Amalie Leth-Nissen finished as top qualifier for the match play at The Women's Amateur championship at West Lanarkshire.
Amalie Leth-Nissen (Den), Carolina Melgrati (Ita), and a trio of English women; Rosie Belsham, Emily Price and Isabelle Simpson all shot a one-under-par 71 to be the top five seeds in this year's championship.

Leth-Nissen finished the strongest of the five, with three birdies on her final five holes to secure top spot and a first round match against her sister, Cecilie, in the opening tie this morning.

Defending champion, Emily Toy (Eng) made it into the match play by the skin of her teeth after a count-back on the six-over-par cut line, as did the home favourite Lily May Humphreys (Eng).

Seven Scottish players also made it through to the match-play. They are:

10 Clara Young (North Berwick) +1
16 Hazel MacGarvie (Royal Troon) +3
33 Hannah Darling (Broomieknowe) +3
37 Jasmine Mackintosh (Murcar) +4
43 Lorna McClymont (Milnagavie) +4
44 Chloe Goadby (St Regulus) +4
46 Penelope Brown (Auchterarder) +4

There was disappointment for five other Scots, Ailsa Wilson (Caroustie), Carmen Griffiths (Aboyne), Grace Crawford (Gullane), Tara MacTaggart (Minto) and Eilidh Henderson (Loretto School) who all missed the cut.
